Ring Necked Pheasants
This is the breed of pheasants that are bred extensively for shooting in the UK. They are in fact an introduced species and most of the birds seen are not wild, but in fact released for the sporting industry. Many mutations occur, but the colourations can be divided up into 4 main categories
RINGNECK - The standard type with a ring around the cock's neck, funnily enough
OLD ENGLISH - As above but without a ring
MELANISTIC - A greeny black colour covers the body of these birds
ALBINO/SNOWY - These birds are all white.
